Neurosis The Musical Announces Cast Recording









(New York, NY– September 6, 2018). NEUROSIS, with a book by Allan Rice, music by Ben Green, and lyrics by Greg Edwards, announced today that it will record an original Off-Broadway ast album this fall with JAY Records and produced by John Yap.

NEUROSIS also announced an expanded playing schedule with two additional performances per week.  The performance schedule for NEUROSIS is Wednesdays at 7:30pm, Thursdays at 7:30pm, Fridays at 8pm, and Saturdays at 2:30pm, with added performances on Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 3pm starting mid-September.  Tickets are currently on sale through October 7th.

They say the biggest obstacle to success is getting over yourself. Maybe that's why struggling magician Frank and overworked marketing executive Abby find themselves stuck in life at the cusp of 30. Luckily, they each have their best friend to help them. Unluckily, those friends are their Neuroses. A modern musical comedy with a psychiatric twist, NEUROSIS is a story about finding happiness, falling in love, and dealing with that little voice in your head along the way.

Directed by Andy Sandberg (Straight, Application Pending), and choreographed by Shea Sullivan (Pageant), NEUROSIS began performances July 25, 2018 and officially opened on August 17.

Jacks (Ionescopade) as “Geri,” Ian Michael Stuart (Escape to Margaritaville) as “Kurt/Larry/Others,” Morgan Weed (American Psycho) as “Neurosalina,” and Lortel Award nominee Kevin Zak (Clinton! The Musical) as “Frank.”

ALLAN RICE (Book) is a writer based in Los Angeles.  Television credits include “The New Adventures of Old Christine” (CBS), “I Hate My Teenage Daughter” (FOX), “Kung Fu Panda” (Nickelodeon), “Wendell & Vinnie” (Nick@Nite), “Partners” (FX), and “Stuck in the Middle” (Disney Channel). Allan graduated from Tufts University with a degree in Clinical Psychology but has paid for enough therapy sessions to earn himself an honorary doctorate.

BEN GREEN (Music) is a composer and arranger for musical theater. Off-Broadway credits include Heathers: The Musical (arrangements and orchestrations) and Application Pending (original music). Orchestrations include Sarah, Plain and Tall (Dallas Theater Center), and selections from Huzzah! (Williamstown Theater Festival) as performed by the Boston Pops Orchestra. He has written the scores to God Loves My People Best (Sage Theater, Times Square) and the short opera The Sasquatch of Prospect Park. Ben graduated from Harvard College, where he scored two productions of the Hasty Pudding Theatricals. Ben was a 2015 Dramatists Guild Fellow and is a member of the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theater Workshop.

GREG EDWARDS (Lyrics) co-wrote the scripts for Application Pending (Off-Broadway, Drama Desk nomination) and Craving for Travel (Off-Broadway) with Andy Sandberg, and he wrote book and lyrics for Evelyn Shaffer and the Chance of a Lifetime (Samuel French OOB Festival Winner, City Theatre National Award for Short Playwriting) and The Almost In-LAws (Take a Ten Podcast, City Theatre). Greg’s essays appear in Avidly (LA Review of Books) and McSweeney’s, and his game “Jessica Plunkenstein and the Dusseldorf Conspiracy” (NYT “Best Adventure Game of the Year”) was published by PC Gamer UK. Greg is an alumnus of Yale (Phi Beta Kappa), the BMI Workshop (Harrington Award), and the Dramatists Guild Fellows. 


ANDY SANDBERG (Director) is a director, writer, and Tony Award winning producer.  New York directing credits include the world premieres of Straight (NYT Critics’ Pick)Application Pending (Drama Desk nomination, BroadwayWorld Award; also co-author), Craving for Travel (also co-author), Operation Epsilon (IRNE Awards: Best Director, Best Play), Shida (AUDELCO nominations: Best Director, Best Play), The Last Smoker in America, R.R.R.E.D., and more. He has been represented on Broadway and London as a producer of Hair (2009 Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle Awards), The Best Man (2012 Tony nomination), and The Realistic Joneses.
